Apps for Wine Lovers

Wine Lovers

Who doesn’t enjoy a glass of wine – whether occasionally or more often?  My favorite this summer is a chilled Kim Crawford Sauvignon.  I can’t tell you if it’s fruity with citrus overtones, or dry with a hint of apricot.  I can tell you I really like it – it’s refreshing and really good to my taste buds, generally available in restaurants and grocery stores and doesn’t cost a fortune.  So that’s my “wine advisor” recap.

For anyone who may be a slight bit more discerning, there are a couple apps that sound like they could be worthwhile.  I haven’t checked them out but like the descriptions.  See for yourself:

Cheese & Wine ($1.99) by two guys named Max Allen and Will Studd (love the name – is he real?).  Cheese & Wine provides pairings (obviously) with informational videos and articles to help you sound like an expert.

Hello Vino (free) will help you in the wine aisle. Plug in your meal type, occasion, or wine preferences and Hello Vino will recommend good selections at various price points.  The app has to be worth the price and more.

Wine Events ($3.99) has an extensive calendar of wine, food, beer and spirits events for cities coast to coast. Go to one free wine tasting and you’ve paid for the app.

Anyone have a special wine recommendation to share?  Red, white, rose, sparkling….  Minerva loves a glass of wine.
