Kate Sets The Fashion Trends

There’s no doubt, the greatest influence on fashion going forward will be Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, aka, Kate Middleton, the most influential export from England since Princess Diana.  Every public appearance shows off her elegantly classic style – truly befitting a most royal princess.  Designers, retailers and websites can’t respond fast enough.

What’s especially wonderful about Kate’s style is that it works for everyone.  You don’t have to be 21 and size 0 to look good in the easy flow dresses she prefers.  Silks, pastels and jewel-tones, easy waistlines, slightly-above-the-knee hemlines, cap sleeves….these will all work with my “mature” body.  She even chooses Diane von Furstenberg, famous when I was in my 20s for her iconic jersey wrap dress and still featured in the hot fashion section of stores such as Bloomingdales.

Other designers on the Duchess A List – Alexander McQueen, Jenny Packham, Reiss, and Roksanda Illinic.

While her use of accessories is limited – what else do you need to enhance a perfectly stunning face and figure and a most-glamourous sapphire & diamond ring – the Duchess is very fond of the clutch bag.  I’ll be shopping for one this week along with a DVF wrap dress.  In case you didn’t know, von Furstenberg’s philosophy is “Love is life.”   Let’s shop!
