Exercise for a flat stomach

I’ve never had a flat stomach – best guess is I never will.
I remember, many years ago, my mom and aunt Mimi were amazed at an acquaintance who claimed she never wore a girdle. (Girdles were popular back in the ’50s) The woman was ram-rod straight with a stomach as flat as a pancake (which I’m sure she never ate).
Since I’ll never wear a girdle or the ever-popular Spanx which I can’t figure out how to get into, it may be time to try an exercise or two to help control the poochy-pouch I see before me.
I really like the video from Holly Perkins on the Everyday Health channel. The workout takes place while you lie on the floor – my kind of exercise. I doubt that I can handle the 15 repetitions recommended but 5 would be a beginning.
