Valerie Harper

A Role Model for us all.

Valerie Harper is our very special Minerva for March.  We’ve loved her since the day we met her as Rhoda on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” in the 70s.  She’s been a part of our families.  Her smile would light up Times Square and her “can-do” attitude often inspired us to try a little harder.  Now, she’s inspiring us to fully live our lives – no matter the challenge.

Recently diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer, Harper, 73, has told the world, “I’m not dying until I do.”  While many would curl into a ball and wait for death to walk through the door, while dying a bit more each day, Harper is determined to cherish every day of her life, regardless of the number that may be ahead.  “I have an intention to live each day’s moments, fully,” she said during an interview on the Today Show.  Whatever our personal situation, we should all adopt that intention as our mantra and fill each moment of each day with meaning and memories.

Thanks for the laughter and the inspiration of so many years, Valerie.  We wish you health and happiness for many days to come.
